End of 20th edition of Festival. Thank you!
It happened! However difficult it seems, the 20thLower Silesian Science Festival under the slogan of “Science without limits” has ended. For the last twenty years we have succeeded in organising an event – let’s hope so – that has been written in a cultural calendar of Lower Silesian events for good. The Festival proves itself that there are no limits when we talk about science. The Festival is prepared by Wrocław universities, two institutes of Polish [...]

Don't be ashamed of becoming Columbus. Art full of discoveries
'I was brought up in such a tradition that requires students to be Columbus although we all know that America was discovered long ago,' says dr Marek Sienkiewicz from the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture of the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. 'These lands are being really discovered anew because everybody interprets them in a different. There's always space for new discoveries and it's worth doing it for yourself and your observations.   Sienkiew [...]
Please don't confuse verbs with pathos!
'I vividly remember a lecture during which windows flew' reminisces prof. Jan Miodek, a linguist and director of the Institute of Polish Studies, University of Wrocław. 'It might have been due to a crowd that assembled in too small room, as it turned out later'.   Miodek's lectures have always enjoyed popularity. Everyone could witness that during his inauguration lectures, organised as part of the Lower Silesian Science Festival. However, this year it [...]
Music and psychology that is how beauty shapes a good man
“My favourite musical instrument is the choir,” smiles prof. dr hab. Marta Kierska-Witczak, who was involved in the Lower Silesian Science Festival as a co-ordinator on behalf of the Music Academy in Wrocław some time ago. However, the choir is not a ready-made instrument from the beginning. It needs to be taught how to play. So much so that the conductor's vision is tantamount to the feelings of a single chorister. A case in point is a pianist who translates her in [...]
